Tree Maintenance
Crown Reduction
Crown reduction is a very common pruning technique that arborists use to control the size of the tree while maintaining the structure or shape of its crown. Arborists focus on limbs on the uppermost portion of the tree canopy, cutting them shorter to decrease the tree height.
There are a number of health benefits with crown reduction, including increased sunlight due to there being fewer competing branches. In turn, fruit trees get healthier and may increase their fruit production the next year. Another key benefit to crown reduction, is that aesthetically your tree will look tidier and compliment your home exterior if maintained and kept healthy.
