Tree Maintenance
Crown Thinning & Shaping
A combination of crown thinning and shaping can result in alleviating biomechanical stress through the reduction of both the leverage and the canopy area of the tree, it also allows retention of trees in a more confined space. These practices are also used to create a desired aesthetic and adapt the tree so that it fits in better in its surroundings.
The main framework of the crown is retained and therefore a high proportion of the foliage-bearing structure remains, this is important for the maintenance of vitality. Crown thinning and shaping, however is not appropriate for all species, not every tree will be an appropriate candidate for this service. The shaping element of this service, means that we reduce the height and or shape of the one or more portions of the crown, while subtly reducing the height and spread of the tree as a whole.
